An emotional Jemimah Rodrigues delivered one of the most heartfelt interviews of her career after scripting one of India’s most significant victories in women’s cricket. Her unbeaten 127-run masterclass guided India to a record-breaking chase of 339 runs against Australia in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 semi-final at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

The knock not only propelled India into the final but also symbolised Jemimah’s resilience, faith, and emotional journey back from a difficult phase in her career. As she addressed the crowd after being named Player of the Match, Jemimah began her speech with a quiet nod to her faith.
“Firstly, I want to thank Jesus because I couldn’t do this on my own. I know He carried me through today,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. She went on to thank her parents and coach for their unwavering belief. Interestingly, Jemimah revealed that she wasn’t supposed to bat at No. 3 until the very last minute. “I was still at No. 5 while taking a shower! But just before walking out, I was told I’d bat at three. I didn’t think of proving a point — I just wanted to win this match for India,” she explained.

Jemimah’s innings was marked by maturity and intent rather than self-celebration. “Today wasn’t about my 50 or 100 — it was about making India win,” she added.
The 25-year-old also spoke about her mental battles over the past year, revealing the toll that being dropped had taken on her confidence. “Last year, I was dropped from the World Cup squad. It broke me. I went through a lot of anxiety and self-doubt. But God placed the right people around me who believed in me even when I didn’t.”
She credited her faith in the Bible for giving her strength. “I was exhausted, both mentally and physically. But one scripture kept me going — ‘Just stand still, and God will fight for you.’ And He did. I had nothing left in me, but He carried me through,” she said, tears welling in her eyes.
Jemimah also shared her on-field conversation with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who guided her through the partnership.

“When Harman di came, all we spoke about was one thing — just one partnership. The runs would come. Everyone around me — Richa, Deepti, Amanjot — kept pushing me when I was struggling. I’m blessed to have teammates who lift me up when I can’t go on.” Finally, she turned her attention to the crowd that roared her name throughout the chase. “Navi Mumbai has always been special to me. Every cheer gave me strength. I couldn’t have done it without the fans who believed, shouted, and celebrated every run with us,” she said.
India will now face South Africa in the Women’s World Cup 2025 final on November 2, at the same venue. Jemimah’s 127* — her third ODI century and highest score — included 14 fours and an unshakable spirit that defined India’s path to glory.
