Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin applauded women’s team head coach Amol Muzumdar after Harmanpreet Kaur’s side made
history by winning the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as well. The final took place on Sunday, November 2, at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, where India beat South Africa by 52 runs as well.

Reacting to the win during a discussion on his YouTube channel on Monday, November 3, Ashwin said: “When the student is ready, the guru arrives.’ This Indian team, their captain and senior players, were all ready. Ready to create history. And that’s why they got such a guru. You mentioned Amol Muzumdar, right? You directly connected it with Chak De! India and Shah Rukh Khan. But I actually want to explain sports in a real way. These years, 2024 and 2025, are truly great years in Indian cricketing history. You know why? Because I always feel that good people, genuinely good people, don’t get enough compliments.”

“Good things do happen for good people. Rahul Dravid and Amol Muzumdar, Rahul Dravid as coach won the 2024 World Cup. Amol Muzumdar as coach won the 2025 Women’s World Cup. That’s such a significant example for all the good men, good women, good people out there, those who are honest from within, who genuinely want to do good work but often don’t get the credit. For them, this is proof that good men don’t always finish last. Good things happen for good people,” he further added.
As India defeated South Africa to win the Women’s World Cup 2025 on November 2, head coach Amol Muzumdar showed immense pride and
joy as well

Speaking to the broadcaster after the match, he said (as quoted by ESPNcricinfo): “Absolutely proud. I don’t know, it has not yet sunk in. Unbelievable achievement and they deserve every credit and everything that will follow from here. They have worked terribly hard. They have done every Indian proud. We did not look at those losses as losses, we looked at them as we could not get over the line. We dominated the majority of those matches, and we just thought there are some hiccups.”
“We were still alive in the tournament and here we are, as world champions. I know for a fact that they have worked extremely hard for this, and it is a watershed moment for Indian cricket. (One word on Shafali) Magical. Turns up in the semi final. In the final, packed ground, turns up with a magical innings, and then with the ball. That was one thing we spoke a lot about in the dressing room. Fielding and fitness was something we spoke about. They just turned it up on this day in the World Cup final – I could not have asked for more,” he concluded.
