Indian men’s cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir shared a heartfelt message on X late Monday (November 10), expressing deep grief over the tragic blast in Delhi. The explosion, which occurred inside a car near the Red Fort area on Monday evening, claimed eight lives and left several others injured.

“Saddened by the loss of lives due to the blast in Delhi. Praying for strength to the families of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Gautam Gambhir posted on X.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra also reacted to the incident, urging people to stay alert while offering his condolences. “Stay safe, Delhi. Thoughts and prayers,” he wrote on the platform.

The blast occurred during peak evening hours, when the area was crowded with commuters and tourists. At least 24 people sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to LNJP Hospital, located just a few kilometres away. Authorities have placed Delhi on high alert as investigations into the incident continue.

The incident came just hours after Haryana Police recovered nearly 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate along with arms and ammunition from a rented flat in Faridabad belonging to a Kashmiri doctor, Muzammil Ganaie. He was arrested soon after and is being interrogated for possible links to the Delhi blast.
In the wake of the explosion, security has been intensified around the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir is scheduled. The stadium, located only a few kilometres from the blast site, will see additional police deployment as a precaution.

Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma confirmed the step, stating, “Security will be beefed up near the stadium for the Ranji Trophy match. I will be coordinating with Delhi Police to ensure additional deployment outside the premises.”
The incident has cast a somber mood across the city, with authorities urging vigilance as investigations unfold.
