The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune may soon become the temporary home of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Discussions are underway between the MCA and RCB after uncertainty arose over the availability of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium has not hosted any matches since June 4, when over ten people tragically lost their lives during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations. The incident has cast a shadow over the venue, which is reportedly not being considered for hosting matches in the upcoming T20 World Cup either.
With doubts surrounding the stadium’s readiness and safety approvals, RCB has been exploring alternate venues for their home games. According to MCA honorary secretary Kamlesh Pisal, initial talks with RCB are already underway, although no formal agreement has been reached yet.

“This arrangement is in discussion, but it’s not confirmed. RCB is looking for a venue due to issues in Karnataka following the unfortunate incident. We have offered them our stadium, and if the technical aspects are resolved, Pune could very well host their matches,” Kamlesh Pisal told the Times of India.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Pisal further explained that the final call will be made after the IPL 2026 player auction.
“We are in talks with RCB officials, including vice-president Rajesh Menon. They are evaluating options and will confirm after the auction. There are still some logistical and technical details to finalize,” he said.

Kamlesh Pisal emphasised that Pune would be an ideal choice for RCB due to its infrastructure and proximity. “After Bengaluru, Pune makes the most sense—great airport access, excellent hotel facilities, strong fan support, and a quality stadium. It checks all the boxes,” he concluded.
If finalised, this move could give Pune fans a chance to witness some thrilling RCB action up close in IPL 2026.
