Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered one of the most explosive knocks of the year on Friday, November 14, during the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 clash between India A and UAE. The young right-hander blasted a remarkable 31-ball century, surpassing the strike-rate feats of stars like Rohit Sharma and David Miller. However, he narrowly missed out on eclipsing Rishabh Pant’s record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian. Had he reached the milestone just one delivery earlier, he would have rewritten history.

When it comes to India’s fastest T20 hundreds, only Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma sit above him. Both batters smashed 28-ball tons—Urvil for Gujarat against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Abhishek for Punjab versus Meghalaya. Rishabh Pant follows next with his 33-ball effort, placing Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 31-ball masterclass right among the elites.

Globally, the list of quickest T20 centuries features Kusal Malla, Andrew Symonds, Sean Abbott, and Finn Allen, all of whom reached the mark in 34 balls. Rohit Sharma and David Miller sit one step behind with their famous 35-ball tons. Vaibhav too has previously registered a 35-ball hundred—for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025—until this innings redefined his personal best.

The fastest T20 century ever still belongs to Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who scored a 27-ball ton against Cyprus. Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball hundred for RCB, along with rapid centuries from Sikandar Raza, Nicole Lofty-Eaton and Vihaan Lubbe (all off 33 balls), remain part of cricket folklore.

Against UAE, Vaibhav was in devastating touch, hammering 10 fours and 9 sixes to race to his hundred. He continued the carnage with four consecutive sixes and a four in the 11th over, racing to 138 off 12 overs. A double hundred looked possible, but he fell in the 13th over attempting another big hit.

Still, his incredible 144 off just 42 balls—featuring 15 sixes and 11 fours—was pure entertainment. An astonishing 134 runs came from boundaries, and his strike rate touched a jaw-dropping 342.85, marking one of the most dominant T20 innings by an Indian rising star.
