The moment came when Jadeja bowled a masterful delivery that completely outfoxed Stubbs. With a subtle drift and devastating turn, Jadeja beat the right-hander’s defensive stroke and sent the off-stump cartwheeling. Stubbs, who managed only 5 runs, had no answer to the left-armer’s artful deception.

This wicket wasn’t just another scalp—it marked Jadeja’s 250th Test wicket on home soil, a testament to his dominance in Indian conditions. It also took his overall Test tally past the 250-mark, making the 36-year-old one of the most impactful all-rounders to have ever played the game. Earlier in the match, Jadeja also reached 4000 Test runs, marking a rare double of batting and bowling excellence.

His milestone-laden day didn’t stop there. Jadeja also completed 150 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship, reinforcing his status as a match-winner across formats.

As South Africa struggled at 68/5 in their second innings, Jadeja’s spell put India firmly in control. Skipper Temba Bavuma and Kyle Verreynne were battling to keep the visitors afloat, with a slim 38-run lead at the time.

India, earlier bowled out for 189 in their first innings, had secured a 30-run lead thanks to some disciplined bowling. Simon Harmer was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, taking four wickets, while Marco Jansen picked up three. Day 1 had seen the Proteas folded for 159, with Jasprit Bumrah’s five-wicket haul leading the charge.

In Shubman Gill’s absence due to a neck spasm, Rishabh Pant is captaining the side and will now look to apply further pressure as India aim for yet another home series win over South Africa. Notably, India hasn’t lost a home Test to the Proteas since 2010, having won the last two series 3-0.

With 14 wickets falling on Day 2 alone, this Test has turned into a gripping contest driven by pace, spin, and plenty of drama.
