Star Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan remains resolute and unfazed by his continued exclusion from the national Test squad, stating he has no plans to change his batting approach despite a dip in his recent form. Known for his prolific run-scoring in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz emphasised that he continues to train rigorously, facing as many deliveries as possible in practice to maintain his form and focus.

Speaking ahead of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy clash against Puducherry, Sarfaraz Khan reflected on his current season’s modest numbers. The young batter has scored just 111 runs in four matches at an average of 22.2, a stark contrast to the towering standards he set in previous years. Yet, he remains grounded, noting, “One cannot score runs in every single match.”

The prior year was even more remarkable, with Sarfaraz piling up 982 runs at an average of 122.75. Going back to the 2019-20 season, he hammered 928 runs in just six games at an astonishing average of 154.66.

Despite this extraordinary run, Sarfaraz Khan continues to be overlooked by the selectors, a factor many believe could have impacted his confidence. However, he brushes off such concerns.
“There is no frustration at all. I have scored a lot of runs consistently. People have one season in four years where they make a thousand runs, but maine chaar-paanch saal daba ke runs banaye hain,” Sarfaraz asserted, highlighting his sustained performance.

He remains optimistic, trusting that his process will eventually bear fruit. “I don’t think I need to change anything because I am doing good. I’ve always practiced by facing a lot of balls, and I continue to do that,” he said, underlining his commitment to his craft. As Sarfaraz Khan gears up for the next game, he’s focused not on the noise outside, but on the bat in his hand and the next big score waiting to be written.
