In a key decision, KL Rahul has been appointed India’s captain, replacing Shubman Gill, who has been advised to rest and recover fully after a serious neck injury. Rahul’s elevation comes at a critical time, with India looking to settle its core ahead of a packed cricket calendar.

Meanwhile, Jadeja’s last ODI outing came in the Champions Trophy final, where he delivered an exceptional spell against New Zealand, giving away just 30 runs in 10 overs and picking up a wicket. His comeback means Axar Patel, who featured in the recent Australia tour, misses out.

The selectors have also rewarded Ruturaj Gaikwad for his impressive performances in the India A series against South Africa A. With Gill and Shreyas Iyer sidelined due to injuries, Gaikwad’s selection was expected and adds depth to India’s top order.
