The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the fourth edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be played in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara from 9 January to 5 February. WPL chairman Jayesh George confirmed the dates and venues during the opening address at the WPL mega auction in New Delhi on 27 November.

There had been intense anticipation that the league would shift to a full home-and-away format this year, especially after the massive popularity of the Women’s World Cup 2025 in India. However, the BCCI has opted to continue with a limited-venue approach for one more season before expanding the tournament’s footprint.
While the bidding battle for top names like Meg Lanning and Deepti Sharma heated up at the auction, the governing body locked in the schedule and logistics. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was seen alongside the Mumbai Indians management at the auction table, adding to the buzz.

As with previous years, this edition will follow the caravan model — the tournament will begin in Navi Mumbai and then shift to Vadodara for the concluding phase, including the all-important final. The WPL will return in 2026 at the venue that successfully hosted the Women’s World Cup final, where India defeated South Africa to lift their first-ever world title.

India is also preparing for a packed cricket calendar in early 2026. Soon after the WPL concludes, the country will co-host the men’s T20 World Cup across Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, and Kolkata, while Sri Lanka will host the marquee India–Pakistan clash in Colombo. The 20-team global event will run from 7 February to 8 March, making it one of the biggest cricketing months in recent years.
