Indian cricket’s biggest superstar, Virat Kohli, is back in Ranchi as he prepares for the high-profile ODI series against South Africa beginning Sunday. But before joining the squad, Kohli made headlines for a lighter moment off the field. At an event in Mumbai, where Bollywood actor-comedian Sunil Grover was also present, a hilarious exchange stole the show and quickly went viral.

In a clip circulating widely on social media, Grover entertained the audience with a spot-on impression of legendary India captain Kapil Dev. Kohli, seated in the front row, couldn’t control his laughter.
Seeing him doubled over, Grover cheekily asked, “Sab theek thak hai? (Is everything fine?)” The banter didn’t stop there—host Gaurav Kapur joined in, warning, “Bhai, do din mein match khelna hai. Rib mat tod dena hasa hasa ke! (Brother, you have a match in two days. Don’t break his ribs with laughter!)”

Once Kohli reached Ranchi, his first stop was MS Dhoni’s residence. Reports suggest Rishabh Pant also joined the dinner gathering. Later, Dhoni was seen taking Kohli for a late-night drive, sparking a social media frenzy. Star Sports fittingly captioned it as the “Reunion of the Year.”

India, led by KL Rahul, will take on South Africa in a three-match ODI series with games scheduled in Ranchi (Nov 30), Raipur (Dec 3) and Visakhapatnam (Dec 6). With the team coming off a disappointing Test series loss to the Proteas, the return of senior stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Kohli brings much-needed stability and confidence.

Kohli enters the series in vintage touch. In his last ODI outing against Australia at the SCG, he crafted a fluent, unbeaten 74 off 81 balls, while Rohit Sharma stole the show with a sublime 121*. Together, they powered India to a commanding nine-wicket win while chasing 237.
A colossus in ODI cricket, Kohli stands second on the all-time run chart with 14,255 runs and a record 51 centuries. He remains the fastest to every milestone from 8,000 to 14,000 ODI runs, reinforcing why he continues to be India’s most reliable match-winner heading into another crucial series.
