Team India delivered a commanding performance in Raipur, posting a massive 358 in the second ODI against South Africa, powered by outstanding centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli. The match was interrupted before the first ball when a fan breached security and ran onto the field immediately after the toss, prompting officials to escort the intruder away promptly.

South Africa opted to bowl first, and India’s innings began with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Rohit fell early for 14 to Nandre Burger, while Jaiswal managed 22 before Marco Jansen removed him. From there, Gaikwad and Kohli took charge, steadying the innings with a composed partnership.

Gaikwad showcased brilliant timing and shot selection on his way to a superb 105 off 83 balls, eventually falling to Jansen. Kohli carried the momentum, registering his 53rd ODI century, while KL Rahul supported him with a well-made fifty. Washington Sundar departed cheaply after being run out for 1, but Jadeja’s late flourish ensured India comfortably crossed 350.

In response, South Africa opened with Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock, but Arshdeep Singh struck early to remove de Kock for 9. Skipper Temba Bavuma joined Markram to rebuild the chase, adding crucial runs as they pushed the Proteas past the 100-run mark. Markram’s half-century kept South Africa hopeful, but the towering target left them under constant pressure.
