India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj recently turned host as he welcomed senior pacer Mohammed Shami, along with Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, and several other members of the Bengal domestic squad, to his restaurant in Hyderabad. The Bengal team is currently stationed in the city ahead of their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) clash against Puducherry scheduled for December 6, and the evening turned into a warm get-together marked by laughter, food, and genuine camaraderie between India’s fast-bowling fraternity.

Ahead of the crucial fixture, the Bengal boys decided to unwind and spend some quality time off the field, and Siraj’s hospitality added a personal touch to their preparation week. The images shared by Mohammed Shami on social media quickly went viral among cricket fans, giving supporters a refreshing glimpse of the bond that India’s pacers share beyond the boundary ropes.

In his caption, Mohammed Shami expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Siraj, appreciating the warmth and care with which the Hyderabad speedster hosted them. Shami wrote, “Mohammad Siraj inviting other teammates and me to his restaurant was a fantastic way to strengthen our camaraderie. We enjoyed a nice meal, shared some laughs, and bonded over experiences on and off the field. Thanks for the very good hospitality @mohammedsirajofficial.”

The veteran pacer’s post highlighted not just the dinner itself, but the mutual respect and friendship that define India’s modern fast-bowling unit. While Siraj hasn’t had an extended run in the ongoing SMAT season, he made an immediate impact in the lone game he played—returning figures of 1/15 in four overs, helping Hyderabad secure a tight three-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh.

Mohammed Siraj is currently not part of the Indian ODI squad for the series against South Africa, as he has been given a much-needed break following his workload in the recent two-match Test series. On the other hand, Mohammed Shami has been in superb rhythm this domestic season. The senior pacer delivered a brilliant spell against Services, finishing with 4/13 in 3.2 overs, dismantling the opposition with trademark seam movement and control.

Overall, Shami has picked up 9 wickets in 5 matches at an impressive average of 19.44, with 4/13 his best figures. Although he last featured for India in the Champions Trophy 2025, Shami’s commitment to domestic cricket underlines his hunger to stay match-fit and ready for future national assignments.

In terms of team performance, Bengal have been one of the standout sides this season. They currently sit atop the Elite Group C table, with four wins from five matches and 16 points. Hyderabad, led by Siraj’s presence and experience, are enjoying similar success in Elite Group B, where they also command the top spot with 16 points from five outings. Hyderabad’s next challenge awaits in Jadavpur, where they face Bihar in what promises to be another competitive SMAT fixture.
