Shubman Gill has finally broken his silence on his recovery journey after the alarming neck injury he sustained last month. In a pre-recorded video shared on social media, Gill appeared relaxed and upbeat as he spoke from the Centre of Excellence (formerly the National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru, where he has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation.

The 26-year-old revealed that he now feels “much better” following several high-quality skill and conditioning sessions. Gill’s injury occurred during the first Test against South Africa, where he suffered a nerve issue in his neck.
Although he briefly attempted to continue batting, the discomfort forced him to withdraw from the match. He was subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the Test series and the three ODIs that followed. After spending a day in the hospital, Gill remained at the CoE for a couple of weeks to undergo structured recovery and strengthening work.

“I am feeling much better. From the day I arrived here till today, I’ve had quite a lot of skill sessions and training sessions. So I feel much, much better now — from recovery to training,” Shubman Gill said in the BCCI video.

“For an athlete, it can’t get any better,” Shubman Gill stated. “It’s a paradise for any sportsperson. Whether you want to get physically better or mentally better, the facilities here are top-notch. The oxygen chamber, cryotherapy, and many other machines I used for recovery have been amazing. There are so many advanced machines that I didn’t even know how to operate — that shows how big and advanced the setup is.”
Gill concluded by reflecting on how the CoE remains a dream destination for young cricketers, just as the old NCA was during his early years—symbolising opportunity, hope, and the pathway to India colours.
