Mohammed Siraj may have stepped away from Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but the emotional connection he shares with Virat Kohli refuses to fade. That bond was on full display during a recent Skechers promotional event, where Siraj walked onto the stage only to be greeted by booming chants of “Kohli! Kohli!” and “RCB! RCB!” echoing across the venue.

Instead of looking surprised, Mohammed Siraj flashed a warm smile and acknowledged the crowd, a gesture that highlighted just how deeply RCB fans still associate him with his former captain and franchise.
The event marked the launch of Skechers’ new GO WALK collection in India, with the global footwear brand introducing its latest comfort-driven walking range. Siraj, along with Bollywood actor Alaya F, has been signed as one of the new faces of the campaign.

Even as the 31-year-old fast bowler appeared as the star attraction at the mall activation, the chants for Kohli showed the audience’s lasting emotional attachment to the RCB era Siraj was part of.

Siraj and Kohli built a strong bond during their years together at RCB, with Kohli repeatedly backing the pacer through highs and lows. That trust carried into their time with the Indian team as well. Although Siraj moved to the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2025, the public still sees him as an inseparable part of Kohli’s legacy at RCB.

Off the field, Siraj’s international journey has sparked debate. His sudden disappearance from India’s white-ball setup has confused many, including former cricketer Aakash Chopra, who questioned how a bowler who once topped India’s ODI wicket charts slipped out of the scheme of things. With Kohli now retired from both Tests and T20Is, ODIs remain the only format where the duo could potentially reunite—but Siraj hasn’t featured in the squad recently.
“How did he suddenly vanish from ODI cricket?” Chopra asked, pointing out that Siraj was overlooked for the Champions Trophy despite his impressive numbers just two years earlier.
