Hardik Pandya etched his name deeper into T20I history on Sunday, December 14, achieving a milestone no fast-bowling all-rounder in the world had managed before. During India’s third T20I against South Africa at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Pandya became the first seam-bowling all-rounder to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in T20 international cricket, underlining his rare value in the shortest format.

Playing his 123rd T20I for India, Pandya claimed his landmark 100th wicket when he dismissed Tristan Stubbs on the final ball of the seventh over. Stubbs, who struggled to get going, was caught behind by Jitesh Sharma after scoring nine runs from 13 deliveries. The wicket was more than just another breakthrough—it marked a historic moment in global T20 cricket.

Before Pandya, only Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, Sikandar Raza, and Virandeep Singh had achieved the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets, all of them spin-bowling all-rounders. Hardik Pandya’s achievement becomes even more impressive when viewed alongside another elite club he recently joined.

The Indian star is now just the fourth cricketer in the world to complete the treble of 1000 runs, 100 wickets, and 100 sixes in T20Is. He reached his century of sixes earlier this month during the series opener in Cuttack, where he smashed an unbeaten 59 off just 28 balls, peppering the boundary with six fours and four towering sixes.

With 1939 T20I runs to his name, Pandya continues to redefine the role of a modern fast-bowling all-rounder. The dismissal of Stubbs also made him only the third Indian to claim 100 T20I wickets, after Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah. While Arshdeep leads India’s wicket charts with 108 scalps, Bumrah sits second with 101 wickets, though the senior pacer missed the Dharamsala match due to personal reasons. For India, Pandya’s milestone is a reminder of his enduring impact across disciplines.
