Former India player and commentator Aakash Chopra has stated that Ravindra Jadeja has been delivering below-par performances in ODIs recently. He added that Jadeja has been far from his best with bat, ball, and in the field. However, Jadeja scored 27 runs off 44 deliveries and registered figures of 0/44 in eight overs as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Jadeja’s bowling, five matches, the situation is very bad. He has not done very well. The average is close to 250. The economy has been above six. Whichever way you look at it, a run-out was also missed, he isn’t able to field well and is not scoring runs with the bat. The Indian spinners didn’t really make an impact. Nitish Kumar Reddy wasn’t bowled much. We had great expectations from spin, but that didn’t work out. At the halfway stage, we felt 285 was a decent total, but the runs were chased so easily. That is a bit of a surprise and a bit of a shock.”

However, Aakash Chopra also stated that Ravindra Jadeja also played a painstaking knock in the second ODI against New Zealand as well.

“There is a question mark because he was playing extremely slow. Of course, it was a rebuilding phase, but he found a little form, scored a few runs, and then he got out. That’s not good. The ODI format is not going in Jaddu’s favor. Since the Champions Trophy, if you look at his bowling numbers, they are not looking good at all, and his batting numbers are also not looking good. It is not a good story,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
