A disturbing security breach involving Indian batting star Rohit Sharma has sparked widespread concern after a video from Indore went viral on social media. The incident reportedly occurred outside the team hotel during the third ODI between India and New Zealand, where a woman was seen bypassing security and briefly grabbing Rohit Sharma’s arm as he entered the premises. Visibly startled, Rohit appeared unaware of what was happening before security personnel intervened.

The video, while alarming from a safety standpoint, later revealed a deeply emotional backstory. The woman, who identified herself as Sarita Sharma, claimed she acted out of desperation to seek help for her young daughter, Anika, who is allegedly battling a life-threatening illness. According to her statement in the clip, the child requires a specialised injection that costs ₹9 crore and must be imported from the United States.

Sarita explained that her family has been running donation drives and small fundraising camps to raise the required amount and has so far collected approximately ₹4.1 crore. However, with time running out, she said she felt compelled to approach prominent cricketers during the India–New Zealand match in Indore, hoping their influence could help amplify her appeal.

“During the match, we tried to reach out to players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma because they have helped children in the past,” she said. “We even set up a donation camp at the stadium, but it wasn’t enough. In desperation, I went to the hotel where the team was staying. My emotions got the better of me, and I grabbed Rohit Sharma’s hand.”

The woman clarified that her intentions were not to take selfies or seek publicity. She issued a public apology for her actions, acknowledging that she crossed a line and unintentionally caused a security scare.

“I sincerely apologise to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and the authorities,” she said. “I was only trying to save my child’s life. If this message reaches them, I hope they can help in any way possible.”
