Former India player turned veteran commentator Aakash Chopra has wondered whether the Indian team’s preferred playing XI for the 2026 T20 World Cup could comprise an all left-handed top order as well. He also added that Ishan Kishan has become virtually undroppable after his stunning knock in the second T20I against New Zealand.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “India might have to answer the question as to whether they can keep the top three as all left-handers, whether Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma can be our one, two, and three. India will have to ask that question because Ishan Kishan has broken the door down, sir. It won’t be possible to keep him out.”

However, Aakash Chopra also added that luck is favouring Ishan Kishan at the moment.

“The way Ishan Kishan played, India were 6/2, and here comes the destiny part. He is destiny’s child at the moment. You do a lot of hard work, but everyone does that. Sarfaraz Khan has also scored a lot of runs, but is he a part of the team? He is not. Other people have also scored runs and taken wickets,” he said.
“Devdutt Padikkal has an average close to 85 in List A cricket, but he is not even close to the team. Scoring runs, an opportunity getting opened up, the Indian selectors pivoting, Tilak Varma getting injured, him getting to play in the XI, India suffering early blows, and here you go. There are so many things that are going right with him,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
