Former India player-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has stated that England’s biggest strength in the T20 World Cup 2026 is that they will be playing their group matches on batting-friendly pitches. He also said that their group has also become easier after Bangladesh’s exit from the tournament as well. However, the T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. England are placed along with the West Indies, Nepal, Italy and Scotland in Group C as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “This team’s biggest strength is that their matches are in fantastic places. One, they have come in an excellent group. Earlier, it seemed like their group would be very entertaining because the West Indies, England, and Nepal are good teams, and Bangladesh is a decent team in these conditions.”

“However, Bangladesh is not there anymore. Scotland have come. Scotland generally troubles England a little, but I feel they won’t be able to do that here, and Italy will also not be able to do so. They should qualify easily. Their job has become easy. All their matches are in Kolkata and Mumbai. They will play on flat pitches. There can’t be better conditions than this to hit sixes. So they can actually bully the opposition. They have such kind of batting depth. So that will be one strength,” Chopra shared.

However, Aakash Chopra also named England’s strong batting as their other strength heading into the T20 World Cup 2026 as well.

“Secondly, they have batting firepower, absolute firepower. In the top eight, Sam Curran bats the slowest, and even his strike rate is 131.6. It means, in batting, there are many fantastic players who hit a lot,” he said.

“The strategy will be batting to win the games, whether you bat first or second. This team won’t be able to come close to winning without batting well. They will try and outbat the opposition. Since there are chances of dew, you can bat second. If you bat first, score 210, and if you chase, manage your batting resources accordingly. You can control things a little by sending Sam Curran and Will Jacks slightly up the order,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
