Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra was not happy with Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi’s lack of game awareness in the team’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against South Africa on Wednesday, February 11 as well. It was a thrilling match, and South AFrica emerged victorious after a double Super Over at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad as well.

The cricketer-turned-commentator said in a video posted on X: “There is only one way to get out on a no-ball, and that’s run out. Fazalhaq Farooqi got run out. You needed two runs to win, and you should have dived after seeing that there was a run out chance, or at least drag the bat. Aap ne kuch bhi nahi kiya hai (You have done nothing at all).”

“What have you done, Afghanistan! The match was in your hand, and you just had to close your fist. You’ve not just lost this match, but said tata bye bye to the tournament; you are not going to the next round,” he shared again.

However, Afghanistan required 24 runs for a win in the second Super Over. They were off to a poor start, with Mohammad Nabi playing a dot ball and then getting out eventually as well.

“Gurbaz hit three sixes and eventually got out. First of all, why did you send Nabi to bat? Gurbaz and Azmat needed to play all the balls,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
