He may not be part of India’s T20 World Cup campaign, but Shubman Gill is still making headlines — this time for a viral dance video. The India Test and ODI captain was recently spotted lighting up the dance floor to Mauja Hi Mauja from the Bollywood blockbuster Jab We Met. Dressed in traditional Indian attire, Gill looked relaxed and carefree, a refreshing sight amid a packed international calendar.
Gill was omitted from India’s T20I squad after a string of underwhelming performances in the format, with selectors opting to recall Ishan Kisha.

Addressing the decision with maturity, Gill said, “I respect the selectors’ decision. All the best to the team for the T20 World Cup.” He added, “I am where I have to be and whatever is written in my destiny no one can take that from me.” It was a composed response from a player who continues to be central to India’s long-term plans in red and 50-over cricket.

Currently on a short break, Gill is expected to return to competitive action as captain of the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026, scheduled to begin in late March. Meanwhile, defending champions India have marched into the Super 8 stage after a dominant win over Pakistan in Colombo.

The foundation was laid by Ishan Kishan’s explosive 77 off 40 balls on a challenging surface. His knock, laced with 10 fours and three sixes, proved decisive. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in 18 overs, with Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel picking up two wickets each in a comprehensive 61-run victory.
