Despite enduring a difficult run with the bat in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, India opener Abhishek Sharma has managed to hold on to the No.1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. The latest update released by the International Cricket Council reflects the strong body of work the left-hander produced in the months leading up to the tournament, which continues to keep him ahead of the chasing pack.

Although Abhishek has struggled to convert starts into big scores in the marquee event, his consistent performances earlier in the year ensured he maintained a healthy cushion at the top. The Indian opener currently enjoys a comfortable 62-point lead over England’s explosive batter Phil Salt, highlighting just how dominant his form had been before the World Cup began.

Meanwhile, Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has surged up the rankings ladder after an impressive run in the tournament. Farhan, who is currently among the leading run-scorers of the competition, climbed two spots to reach third place while also achieving a career-best rating in T20Is.

Another major gainer in the rankings update is India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. The left-hander jumped three positions to break into the top five, a reward for his consistent contributions in the shortest format. Kishan’s rise further strengthens India’s presence among the elite T20I batters and reflects his growing influence in the team’s batting lineup.

Among other notable movers, South Africa’s dynamic youngster Dewald Brevis made a remarkable jump of 10 places to ninth following an impressive World Cup campaign so far. Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran moved up to 13th, while West Indies captain Shai Hope climbed to 14th. England skipper Harry Brook also gained ground, moving up to 18th in the updated standings.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza reclaimed the No.1 spot after playing a crucial role in guiding his side into the Super Eight stage of the tournament. He edged past Pakistan’s Saim Ayub in what has become a tight battle at the top. India’s Shivam Dube moved up two places to seventh, while Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi climbed to eighth.

India also maintained a strong presence in the bowling rankings. Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy retained the No.1 position despite an expensive outing against South Africa. South Africa pacer Corbin Bosch produced one of the biggest jumps in the rankings, soaring 21 places to third after impressive spells that included a three-wicket haul against the UAE and figures of 2/12 against India.

Further down the list, West Indies quick Matthew Forde climbed to seventh, while India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah moved up to eighth. South Africa’s Marco Jansen, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie and England left-arm spinner Liam Dawson also registered gains after productive performances in the tournament.
