Veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal shared a lot of topics during his panel discussion at the Rising Bharat Summit 2026 on Saturday, including the cricketing ecosystem as well.

“There’s just one thing firmly in your hands, which is your performance. I play a bit of chess too, and I’ve acquired a bit of patience from that. And what I’ve learnt from my dad is that, the things that aren’t in your control, don’t think about those things,” he explained. “When you’re playing cricket, you can’t control if it would rain, how the wicket would behave and so on. So it is better to focus on the stuff that are in your control. And I try to follow it always.”
However, Yuzvendra Chahal also shared that the nature of the sport is that it offers up replacements for everyone and that one has to be mentally prepared to go through that phase.

“So when I discuss such stuff, with Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni, cause I believe when I have the ball in my hand, I like to focus on that because I’ve learnt in life that one way or the other, you will be replaced eventually. The number of years be it 5 or 7 years, it is up to luck. You have to be prepared for that mentally because the game is like that. A new player comes in to replace someone and someone else comes in to replace them. So you just enjoy and focus on life,” he shared.
“It isn’t an individual game, it is a team game. And when you are one of the 15 member squad, it is a proud moment for me. Watching the World Cup as a member of the team is better than watching it from home. I still have the Indian jersey. And I feel I need to enjoy the moment, and help out my colleagues in whichever way possible, because you win and lose together. So even if I didn’t play a game in the tournament, people still call me a World Champion,” he concluded.
