Akasa Air Announces Special Flights to Ahmedabad for T20 World Cup Final Rush

With excitement building for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final between the India national cricket team and the New Zealand national cricket team on March 8, travel demand to Ahmedabad has surged dramatically. In response, major airlines and railway authorities have rolled out special travel arrangements to help thousands of cricket fans reach the city for the highly anticipated clash at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Airlines have been quick to respond to the spike in bookings. Air India Express announced additional flights to Ahmedabad from key cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad. According to the airline, these flights were introduced after witnessing a sharp rise in demand from cricket enthusiasts planning to attend the final.

The airline also confirmed that it will continue monitoring booking patterns over the next few days. If demand continues to climb, more special flights could be added to ensure fans can travel comfortably to Ahmedabad for the marquee event.

Meanwhile, Akasa Air has also stepped in with additional connectivity. The airline will operate direct flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on March 8 and 9, strengthening its existing services on the route. Akasa is also planning a special onboard experience for passengers heading to the final.

As part of the celebration, the aircraft cabin will be illuminated with the colours of the Indian tricolour using the Boeing Sky Interior’s dynamic lighting system. Passengers will also be able to track live match updates mid-air through the airline’s SkyScore feature, adding to the festive atmosphere during the journey.

On the ground, the Western Railway has introduced special superfast trains between Mumbai Central railway station and Ahmedabad. Reports suggest two special services will operate between Saturday night and Sunday morning to handle the heavy passenger rush.

India sealed their place in the final after a thrilling seven-run victory over the England national cricket team at Wankhede Stadium.
