Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has backed skipper Rishabh Pant to bounce back strongly in IPL 2026, revealing that the wicketkeeper-batter is in excellent touch during training sessions. Pant, who was signed for a record-breaking ₹27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, endured a mixed campaign last season.

Despite managing 269 runs and finishing with a century in the final game, he struggled to consistently justify his hefty price tag. However, Langer believes the signs from the nets point towards a different story this year.

“Rishabh Pant will be ready to go. He is training at the moment… he is firing,” Justin Langer said while addressing the media during LSG’s pre-season camp. He further added, “Champions do not stay out for long. His last game in IPL 2025 showed how brilliant he can be,” expressing confidence in Pant’s ability to lead from the front.

In preparation for the new season, Pant has also spent time working under the guidance of Yuvraj Singh at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai. Known for mentoring several young Indian stars, Yuvraj has previously worked with players like Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, and Abhishek Sharma — many of whom have benefitted from his experience and insights.

LSG, meanwhile, are aiming for a fresh start after a disappointing IPL 2025 campaign, where it finished seventh despite strong performances from its top-order batters. Injuries and inconsistency plagued the squad, preventing them from building momentum across the tournament.

With Pant at the helm and Langer guiding from the sidelines, the franchise will be hoping for a turnaround this season. Fitness and squad stability remain key focus areas as they look to unlock their full potential.
