Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami reminded everyone of his enduring class during a recent Lucknow Super Giants net session, delivering a fiery spell that left head coach Justin Langer visibly impressed. In a clip that has since gone viral, bowling coach Bharat Arun tossed the ball to Shami near the stumps, and what followed was vintage fast bowling—sharp run-up, pinpoint yorker, and shattered stumps.

At 35, Mohammed Shami may not have featured for India since the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but his intensity in the nets suggests a man far from finished. His trademark yorkers were on full display, hitting the base of the stumps with surgical precision—an encouraging sign for both franchise and country ahead of a crucial season.

Langer didn’t hold back in his admiration. Addressing the team after the session, he singled out Mohammed Shami’s delivery, calling it “breathtaking”—a testament to the pacer’s ability to still command respect at the highest level.

The bond between Mohammed Shami and Bharat Arun has also played a key role in shaping his career. Arun, who previously guided India’s pace attack to historic overseas wins, has worked closely with Shami for years. Their long-standing understanding continues to benefit the bowler, especially during phases of transition and comeback.

On paper, LSG’s pace attack looks one of the most balanced in the Indian Premier League 2026. Alongside Shami, the squad includes names like Anrich Nortje, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan—many returning from injury layoffs.
With preparations in full swing, LSG will kick off their campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 1, hoping their pace unit fires right from the start.
