Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya is quickly building a reputation as a big-match player, especially against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. After grabbing headlines with a stunning century against CSK in IPL 2025, Arya once again made a decisive impact at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Chasing a challenging 210, Arya wasted no time in shifting the momentum. He hammered 39 off just 11 balls, striking at an astonishing 354.55, with three fours and four sixes. His explosive start laid the perfect foundation for PBKS to complete a comfortable chase and secure their second straight win of the season.

Despite his fearless batting, Priyansh Arya remains grounded. Coming from a family of educators, he admitted that life could have taken a very different turn. “My family background is of proper teachers. My sister is also a teacher. Maybe, I would’ve been a teacher too (if not for a cricketer),” Arya said. “Ab koi chance nahi hai! (Now, there’s no chance),” he added with a smile.

Known for his quiet nature, Priyansh Arya prefers to keep things simple, both on and off the field. His teammate Shashank Singh emphasised his mental strength.

“With Priyansh what we, as a team, really liked last year is that he’s mentally very tough. He doesn’t speak much but he knows his role and where he can score,” Shashank Singh noted.

Arya himself credits his natural instincts for his attacking style. “It’s been like this since childhood. Whenever I feel it will benefit the team, I play like that,” he said. “There is a little bit of risk-taking involved, but I believe if I can hit the first ball, I will hit it,” he added.

With this clarity and confidence, Arya is emerging as a key figure in Punjab’s strong IPL 2026 campaign.
