Jos Buttler may be struggling for form, but Gujarat Titans assistant coach Aashish Kapoor is confident the England opener is on the verge of a comeback. Despite a lean patch, Kapoor believes a player of Buttler’s calibre can turn things around with just one impactful innings. Buttler’s recent performances have raised eyebrows after a disappointing T20 World Cup 2026, where he managed only 87 runs in eight innings.

His IPL 2026 start hasn’t inspired much confidence either, scoring a cautious 38 off 33 balls in Gujarat’s opener against Punjab Kings. Speaking ahead of GT’s clash with Rajasthan Royals, Kapoor highlighted Buttler’s class and resilience.
“He’s a top player, and there’s no doubt about it. Every elite cricketer goes through rough patches. Even legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have faced such stretches. Players of this calibre always bounce back,” Aashish Kapoor said.

He added, “Buttler has immense pride and the drive to perform. You could see that in the way he batted in the last match, applying himself and sending a message that he’s ready. For a player of his stature, it often just takes one inning to return to form, and I believe he’s on the right path.”

Despite recent struggles, Jos Buttler remains England’s leading T20 run-scorer, amassing 4,037 runs in 155 matches. Last IPL season, he was pivotal for GT, scoring 538 runs in 14 matches and providing the team with stability at the top of the order.
As Gujarat face a Rajasthan side brimming with confidence after defeating Chennai Super Kings, Jos Buttler will once again be in the spotlight. IPL 2026 offers him the chance to reset after a challenging international phase, reclaim momentum, and reaffirm his place among the world’s best white-ball batters.

Kapoor’s faith reflects a broader truth in cricket: players of Buttler’s pedigree often need just one defining innings to change the narrative. With the tournament still in its early stages, time remains firmly on his side to make a mark for GT and England alike.
