Virat Kohli was all smiles during a light-hearted exchange with Danish Sait after being jokingly called Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s “fifth overseas player” in the Indian Premier League 2026. The cheeky label, which emerged from Kohli spending extended time in London with his family, has been making the rounds on social media, but the RCB superstar took the joke in perfect stride.
The moment came during a fun segment with Danish Sait, better known to fans as Mr Nags. When the topic of the viral nickname came up, Kohli answered with his trademark wit. “I don’t know why are you asking me? Ask the overseas players. I am not an overseas player,” he said.

He then turned the humour back on the host, asking, “Am I an overseas player?” before breaking into laughter when the answer came back in the negative. It was another reminder of why Kohli remains one of the most engaging personalities in Indian cricket, both on and off the field.

The banter, however, is only one part of Kohli’s IPL 2026 story so far. At the top of the order, he has looked in superb touch and continues to anchor the RCB innings with authority. His form has once again underlined his value in high-pressure chases, where his experience and temperament often make the difference.
Kohli started the season with a match-winning knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Chasing 202 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, he scored an unbeaten 69 off 38 balls, striking five fours and five sixes. The innings powered RCB to the fastest successful chase of 200-plus runs in IPL history, finishing the job in 15.4 overs.

That knock also carried major milestones. Kohli overtook Shoaib Malik to become the Asian player with the most T20 runs and became the first cricketer in IPL history to cross 4,000 runs in successful chases.
