Cameron Green’s struggles in IPL 2026 continued as the Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder endured yet another disappointing outing at Eden Gardens. Promoted to No. 3 in a crucial clash against the Punjab Kings, Green managed just 4 runs off 2 balls before being dismissed, once again failing to convert a promising start into a meaningful contribution.

The Australian all-rounder began positively, striking a boundary early in his innings, but his stay at the crease was cut short almost immediately. Fellow Australian Xavier Bartlett provided the breakthrough for PBKS, removing Green and putting KKR under pressure during the power play. The early dismissal added to KKR’s woes, as they lost multiple wickets in the opening overs instead of building momentum.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane had opted to bat first after winning the toss, hoping to set the tone at home. However, KKR’s batting struggles continued, with the team yet to register a win in IPL 2026. The early collapse, including the quick departure of Finn Allen, left the side reeling at 16/2 within the first two overs.

Green’s form has been a growing concern for the franchise. In three matches so far, he has managed scores of 18, 2, and now 4, falling well short of expectations. Bought for a massive ₹25.20 crore in the IPL 2026 auction, Green was seen as a long-term replacement for the retired Andre Russell, making his underwhelming returns even more noticeable.

Adding to the concerns, Cameron Green has not contributed with the ball this season. In KKR’s opening game against Mumbai Indians, he did not bowl a single over, raising questions about his role in the side. Rahane later hinted that the decision was influenced by guidance from Cricket Australia.

Reports suggest that Green is currently under workload management due to a lower-back injury, with his bowling being restricted as part of his recovery. Until he regains full fitness and form, KKR may have to rely on him purely as a batter—a role in which he is yet to make a significant impact this season.
