During the eighth match of the 11th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab at Bengaluru, Ravichandran Ashwin, captain of Kings XI Punjab, struck twice in an over to bring back Kings XI Punjab into the match. We often hear about a batsman playing a captain’s innings, however in this case, a bowler has bowled a captain’s spell.

After being put in tot bat by Virat Kohli, Kings XI Punjab scored 155-10 in 19.2 overs. Chasing an ordinary total, Royal Challengers Bangalore were cruising in the chase until Ashwin put on display a magical over, his last of the match.

Ashwin picked up a couple of wickets in his last over.

In which was the 12th over of Bangalore’s innings, Ashwin picked up his first wicket of the match when his slider beat Quinton de Kock (45) all ends up. If this jolt to the Royal Challengers wasn’t enough, Ashwin dismissed Sarfraz Khan on the first ball that he faced. The second wicket came off a legbreak delivery as Khan guided the ball to Karun Nair at first slip.

Ashwin’s game-changing over brought the match back into balance. Wicket-less in his first three overs, he finished with bowling figures of 4-0-30-3. Watch the full video:
