Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a statement performance in IPL 2026, thrashing arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Powered by a late onslaught from Tim David, RCB piled up a massive 250/3, registering one of their most dominant wins of the season.

David turned the game on its head with a breathtaking display of power-hitting. The Australian smashed 30 runs in the 19th over off Jamie Overton, including four towering sixes—one of which travelled a stunning 106 metres and cleared the stadium.

His unbeaten 70 off just 25 deliveries, laced with eight sixes and three boundaries, left fans and players alike in awe. Notably, David also took apart spin with ease, hammering Noor Ahmad for three consecutive sixes, underlining his growth as a complete T20 batter.

The atmosphere in the RCB dressing room reflected the impact of his innings. Romario Shepherd lightened the mood with a humorous take on David’s approach. “We all know that you take your first five balls and then you just go,” he joked, drawing laughter from teammates, including Virat Kohli.

Unsurprisingly, Ravid  David was named Player of the Match for his match-defining knock. Reflecting on his innings, he credited preparation and team support. “Very pleased—it doesn’t always happen that way. The skipper was striking it well, and I just built from there. I trust my preparation and keep my game simple,” David said, also acknowledging the guidance of mentor Dinesh Karthik.

In reply, CSK never found momentum in the chase of 251. Early wickets, including that of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, left them reeling. Despite a fighting half-century from Sarfaraz Khan and contributions from Prashant Veer and Overton, the visitors were bowled out for 207.

The defeat marked CSK’s third consecutive loss in IPL 2026, raising serious concerns about their form and balance. With pressure mounting, the team will need a quick turnaround to keep their campaign alive, while RCB continue to build momentum with a well-rounded and confident unit.
