Rajasthan Royals’ opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a stunning batting display against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2026 clash at Guwahati, turning a rain-hit contest into a high-octane spectacle. With the match reduced to 11 overs per side, RR made full use of the shortened format after being asked to bat first.

Jaiswal set the tone immediately, hammering 22 runs off the very first over bowled by Deepak Chahar. The left-hander looked in sublime touch, combining timing with controlled aggression. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya quickly turned to Jasprit Bumrah in search of a breakthrough, but Suryavanshi had other plans. The youngster announced himself in style, launching Bumrah for a first-ball six, underlining RR’s fearless intent.

The Royals raced to 59 runs in just 3.2 overs during the powerplay, with both openers going all out. Their partnership was as destructive as it was clinical, adding 80 runs in just 30 balls. Notably, both Jaiswal and Suryavanshi have remained unbeaten in the powerplay throughout the season so far, highlighting their consistency at the top.

Mumbai eventually found a breakthrough through Shardul Thakur, though not before enduring a tough over. Suryavanshi smashed him for two sixes and a four, but the pacer had the final say. Attempting another big hit, the 15-year-old mistimed his shot and was caught in the deep.
