Gujarat Titans held their nerve in yet another last-over thriller in IPL 2026, edging past Delhi Capitals by a solitary run in a high-scoring clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After falling short in a similar finish against the Rajasthan Royals earlier, the 2022 champions bounced back in dramatic fashion to secure a crucial win.

The game was filled with tense moments, including a rare outburst from head coach Ashish Nehra. The former India pacer appeared visibly frustrated after his team conceded four overthrows at a critical juncture. While it wasn’t a direct fielding error, the pressure of the situation amplified the reaction.

The incident unfolded when Delhi needed 63 off 28 balls. GT pacer Ashok Sharma delivered a sharp yorker to Tristan Stubbs, who managed to squeeze out a single. However, a quick throw from skipper Shubman Gill ricocheted off the stumps and raced away to the boundary, gifting Delhi four bonus runs and shifting momentum briefly in their favour.

Despite that setback, the Gujarat Titans showed remarkable composure in the death overs. With Delhi requiring two runs off the final two balls, the match reached a dramatic climax. David Miller declined a single on the penultimate delivery, a decision that proved costly. On the final ball, Kuldeep Yadav was run out while attempting a desperate bye, sealing a thrilling one-run victory for GT.

Earlier in the match, the Gujarat Titans posted a formidable 210/4 after being put in to bat by the DC captain Axar Patel. Gill led from the front with a classy 70 off 45 balls, while Jos Buttler smashed a rapid half-century to set the tone. Washington Sundar added the finishing touches with an aggressive fifty.

Delhi Capitals responded strongly, with KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka stitching together a fluent 76-run opening stand. Rahul’s brilliant 92 kept DC in contention, but the middle order faltered under pressure.

In the end, Gujarat Titans snapped their losing streak while handing Delhi Capitals their first defeat of the season in a contest defined by fine margins and late drama.
