Gujarat Titans struck early in their IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants, with Rahul Tewatia pulling off a crucial catch to dismiss Rishabh Pant at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Pant, who has struggled for consistency this season, managed just 18 runs off 11 balls, including a six and two boundaries, before falling in the fifth over.

The dismissal came off Mohammed Siraj, who delivered a wobble-seam length ball angling across the left-hander at close to 140 kmph. Pant attempted to go big across the line but failed to time it cleanly, sending the ball high towards mid-off. Tewatia showed excellent composure under pressure, keeping his eyes fixed on the ball before completing a well-judged catch, even as he lost balance and tumbled to the ground.
This early wicket added to Pant’s inconsistent run in IPL 2026. Prior to this innings, he had registered scores of 7 and 10 against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, although he did produce a standout unbeaten 68 against Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier in the season.

At the halfway stage, Lucknow Super Giants were 80/2 in 10 overs, with Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni attempting to stabilise the innings. The contest remained finely balanced, with both sides looking to build momentum in the middle overs.

Coming into the match, Gujarat Titans had regained confidence after a thrilling one-run win over Delhi Capitals, their first victory of the season. Meanwhile, LSG had been in solid form, having won two of their three matches, including a successful chase against Kolkata Knight Riders powered by Mukul Choudhary.
Interestingly, Lucknow have dominated this fixture in recent times, remaining unbeaten against Gujarat in their last three meetings, with GT’s last win dating back to 2023.
