Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Ishan Kishan fell agonisingly short of a well-deserved century in IPL 2026, as Rajasthan Royals staged a timely fightback at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday, April 13. Kishan’s dismissal in the 14th over proved to be a turning point, halting SRH’s momentum just when they looked set for a massive total.

The wicket

came in dramatic fashion. Sandeep Sharma bowled a length delivery, and Kishan attempted an aggressive pull shot but mistimed it high into the air. Both Sandeep and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel converged under the ball, leading to a tense moment that nearly resulted in a collision.

Fortunately, both players slowed down just in time, with Sandeep completing the catch safely. Kishan had to walk back for a brilliant 91 off 44 balls, an innings packed with six sixes and eight fours. His knock also ended a crucial 88-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen. Ishan Kishan has been in outstanding form leading into IPL 2026.

He had earlier smashed an unbeaten century against Rajasthan Royals last season and followed it up with a quickfire 80 off 38 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in this year’s opener. He also impressed on the international stage, finishing as India’s second-highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup 2026 with 317 runs at a strike rate of 193.29.

Rajasthan Royals continued to chip away at key moments. Tushar Deshpande dismissed Klaasen for 40 off 26 balls, while earlier breakthroughs from Jofra Archer and Riyan Parag had already put SRH on the back foot by removing Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head cheaply.

Unbeaten in the tournament so far, Rajasthan Royals will be keen to extend their winning run, while SRH continue to search for consistency after managing just one win in four matches.
