Shreyas Iyer was at his athletic best in the Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings IPL 2026 clash in Mumbai on Thursday, pulling off a stunning catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya at a crucial stage of the innings. The moment came on the third ball of the 18th over from Marco Jansen, just when the Mumbai Indians were beginning to rebuild momentum after landing a big hit.

Replays confirmed that he had controlled the ball cleanly before landing, and the Punjab Kings skipper later acknowledged the effort by gesturing toward the crowd to applaud the effort.

Earlier, the Mumbai Indians had been rescued by a superb unbeaten century from Quinton de Kock and a hard-fought half-century from Naman Dhir, helping them post 195/6 after a shaky start. De Kock, playing his first game of the season after replacing Rohit Sharma in the XI, marked his return in style with a breathtaking 60-ball 112 not out, his third IPL century.

His innings was a reminder of his class, as he dominated both sides of the wicket with power, placement, and immaculate timing. Mumbai had slipped to 15/2 inside three overs, but de Kock and Dhir turned the tide with a composed and aggressive rescue act.

Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh was outstanding early on, finishing with 3/22. He struck twice upfront with sharp movement and disciplined lengths, and later returned to pick up another wicket, keeping MI under pressure despite the recovery.
