Sunrisers Hyderabad have strengthened their squad for IPL 2026 with the signing of Gerald Coetzee as a replacement for injured English pacer David Payne. Payne, who featured in just two matches this season, picked up two wickets but struggled with an expensive economy before an ankle injury ruled him out of the remainder of the tournament.

Coetzee, 25, brings valuable international experience, having represented South Africa across all three formats. With 67 international wickets to his name, the right-arm pacer has also previously played in the IPL for the Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians. In 14 IPL matches, he has claimed 15 wickets and will now look to make an immediate impact for SRH after being signed for ₹2 crore.
