Mohammed Siraj shared a light-hearted exchange with India teammate Jasprit Bumrah after the Gujarat Titans’ heavy 99-run defeat to the Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on Monday night. In a moment that quickly caught attention, Siraj teased Bumrah with a viral line from Dhurandhar, asking, “Ghar ki yaad nahi aayi tujhe, Jassi?” Bumrah, never one to miss a moment for banter, fired back with a cheeky remark, telling Siraj to get a haircut.

On the field, however, it was the Mumbai Indians who had the last laugh. The five-time champions produced a commanding all-round display to crush the Gujarat Titans and snap MI into a stronger rhythm in IPL 2026. Bumrah, meanwhile, finally found his breakthrough after going wicketless in his previous five matches.
Handed the new ball, he made an immediate impact by removing GT opener Sai Sudharsan for a golden duck and finished with impressive figures of 1/15 in three overs. For the Gujarat Titans, Siraj was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing outing.

The right-arm pacer bowled with discipline and was the only GT bowler to keep his economy under seven, returning with figures of 1/25 from four overs. His effort, though, could not stop MI from running away with the contest.

GT batting coach Matthew Hayden did not hide his frustration after the match, calling the team’s batting performance unacceptable. He said the side expected far better than a 99-run defeat and admitted that only Kagiso Rabada offered any real resistance with the ball.

Matthew Hayden also stressed that Gujarat’s batting group needs to respond with a stronger mindset and greater responsibility, especially given the quality in their lineup. The defeat left Gujarat Titans with plenty to correct, while Mumbai Indians walked away with momentum, confidence, and a much-needed win led by Bumrah’s return to form.
