The Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag has been in tremendous bad touch and has failed to perform with the willow, despite excelling as a captain and winning four out of their six games this season. Rajasthan Royals appointed him as the skipper of the franchise after Sanju Samson moved to CSK. However, many had argued at that time that Indian youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal was a better candidate to be named as the captain of the side.
However, with RR’s captain still looking to fire with the bat and Jaiswal having scored many runs for them, fans’ opinions are shifting away from the Assam cricketer. Parag’s poor form continues in the IPL 2026, as he has once again been dismissed early after his team had a poor start following the dismissal of the top-order batters within the powerplay.

Parag was earlier dropped by Prince Yadav at the boundary; he could not add many runs, as he was dismissed for just 20 after facing 19 balls and had a very slow start. Parag attempted to switch one over the mid-wicket boundary, but he could not get it in the direction he intended to and instead edged it to long on, where Nicholas Pooran took an easy catch in the deep.
Riyan’s form in this IPL season has been disgusting. He has lacked form since the last IPL season in 2024, when he played under the leadership of former captain Sanju Samson.

In the meantime, his domestic run with Assam has also not been impressive, and he has been dropped from the Indian side as well. The 24-year-old cricketer has amassed just 81 runs after having played 7 matches in the season. In seven innings, Parag has scored 14 against CSK, 8 against GT, 20 against MI, 3 against RCB, 4 against Sunrisers, and 12 against KKR before today. He has failed when it mattered the most for his side.
