Lucknow Super Giants delivered a near-perfect bowling performance in their IPL 2026 clash against the Rajasthan Royals at the Ekana Stadium, making full use of home conditions after opting to bowl first. The pace trio of Mohsin Khan, Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav struck at regular intervals, picking up two wickets each to justify the decision at the toss.

However, amid the disciplined bowling effort, the match produced a moment of sheer confusion, with skipper Rishabh Pant at the heart of a bizarre run-out sequence.
The incident unfolded in the 15th over when Ravindra Jadeja nudged a slower delivery towards square leg and initially called for a quick double. Midway through the run, Jadeja changed his mind, leaving Donovan Ferreira stranded after already committing to the second run.

What followed was complete chaos. Nicholas Pooran reacted swiftly and fired a throw towards the striker’s end, but it missed the target. Pant rushed in to collect the ball but accidentally dislodged the bails in the process. As he scrambled to recover, he fumbled under pressure, allowing Ferreira a lifeline.

Pant attempted a quick throw to complete the run-out, but with the stumps already disturbed, the backup fielder failed to react in time, and the opportunity slipped away. Even Jadeja, watching the drama unfold, couldn’t hide his amusement at the sequence.
Fortunately for LSG, the lapse didn’t prove costly. Ferreira’s stay was brief, as Prince Yadav dismissed him in the very next over for 20 off 19 balls.

Earlier, LSG’s pacers had put Rajasthan on the back foot at 77/5, with Shami extracting early movement and Mohsin removing the dangerous Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Jadeja later anchored the innings with a steady 43 off 29 balls, helping RR post a competitive 159/6 in their 20 overs.
