Sunrisers Hyderabad are set for a major boost ahead of their IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, as captain Pat Cummins prepares to make his first appearance of the season. The high-profile encounter marks Match 36 of the tournament and could significantly impact the playoff race.

Cummins had missed the first half of the season due to workload management guidelines set by Cricket Australia. However, with clearance now in place, the Australian skipper is ready to return and take charge of the side once again. His comeback also means Ishan Kishan will step aside from captaincy duties after leading the team admirably, guiding SRH to four wins in seven matches with a healthy net run rate of 0.620.
Sharing his excitement, Cummins hinted at his return through social media, signalling a fresh chapter for the franchise as they enter the crucial second half of the season.

From a team combination perspective, Cummins is likely to replace Liam Livingstone, who has struggled for consistency with both bat and ball this season. The overseas core is expected to feature Travis Head at the top, Heinrich Klaasen in the middle order, and Eshan Malinga in the pace attack alongside Cummins.

Cummins’ return is expected to inject fresh energy into the squad.
