Anushka Sharma’s animated reactions in the stands added extra sparkle to a record-breaking night as Virat Kohli once again proved why he remains one of the greatest T20 batters of all time. During Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2026 clash against Gujarat Titans at the M. The 37-year-old RCB star created history by becoming the first batter to score 10,000 T20 runs in a single country — India. He arrived at the match needing 49 runs to reach the landmark and achieved it comfortably during RCB’s chase of 206. That was only the beginning of a special innings.

Kohli later smashed his 300th IPL six, becoming the first player to hit 300 maximums for a single franchise. He also crossed the 800-boundary mark in the IPL, taking his tally to 807 boundaries in 274 matches, the most in tournament history. In the all-time sixes list, Kohli now stands alongside elite names like Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma.

His 81 off 44 balls, decorated with eight fours and four sixes, also pushed him to the top of the Orange Cap race. With strong support from Devdutt Padikkal, who struck a quickfire 55 off 27 balls, RCB chased down the target and won by five wickets in Match 34.

The chase had a few early scares. Kohli was dropped by Washington Sundar, while Jacob Bethell fell early to Kagiso Rabada. Padikkal then turned the game around with aggressive strokeplay, taking on Rabada and Mohammed Siraj before reaching a brisk fifty. Kohli, meanwhile, dominated the middle overs with trademark control before falling for 81 to Jason Holder, after the job was nearly done.

Earlier in the evening, Sai Sudharsan had lit up the contest with a superb 100 off 58 balls, becoming the fastest player to reach 2,000 IPL runs in just 47 innings. But by the end of the night, it was Kohli’s record-filled innings that defined the match.
