Ishan Kishan opened up on his leadership stint and red-hot batting form after guiding Sunrisers Hyderabad to a memorable win over Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. Stepping in as captain during Pat Cummins’ absence, Kishan handled the dual responsibility impressively before seamlessly transitioning back into his primary role.

With Cummins returning to strengthen the bowling unit, Ishan Kishan shifted his focus entirely to batting and wicketkeeping—and the results were evident. The left-hander produced a commanding 74 off just 31 balls, laced with crisp boundaries and clean hitting, to anchor a challenging 229-run chase. His innings combined aggression with control, setting the tone for one of the most clinical run chases of the season.

Reflecting on his time as stand-in captain, Kishan admitted he enjoyed the experience but welcomed Cummins’ return. He highlighted how having an experienced leader back in the side allowed him to play with more freedom and clarity, focusing on his strengths rather than tactical decisions.

Ishan Kishan also underlined the importance of fearless cricket in high-pressure chases. He recalled a moment when a sharp bouncer from Jofra Archer struck his helmet and still raced away for a boundary—an instance he described as a reminder that confidence and intent often tilt the game in a batter’s favour.

A key factor in the chase was SRH’s strong foundation in the powerplay, courtesy of aggressive starts from the top order. Kishan credited his partnership and constant communication with Abhishek Sharma for helping maintain momentum and keep the required rate in check.

Despite piling up an impressive tally of runs in T20 cricket this year, Ishan Kishan remains far from satisfied. He believes his best is still ahead, a statement that reflects his hunger and evolving mindset.

His approach remains simple yet effective—play positive cricket, trust preparation, and stay composed under pressure. That clarity not only powered SRH to victory but also reinforced Kishan’s growing stature as a dependable match-winner in the IPL.
