Rajasthan Royals faced an anxious moment despite a record-breaking performance from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The 15-year-old prodigy, who lit up the game with a sensational century, was forced off the field after suffering a brief injury scare.

The incident unfolded early in SRH’s chase when Sooryavanshi sprinted towards the boundary in the fourth over, only to pull up suddenly and clutch his hamstring. He signalled to the physio immediately and walked off with assistance, sparking concerns about a possible strain given his intense workload this season.
Fortunately for Rajasthan, the situation didn’t appear too serious. Batting coach Vikram Rathour later confirmed that the youngster was recovering well and that initial treatment had eased the discomfort, with further assessment expected.

The injury scare somewhat overshadowed what was otherwise a breathtaking innings. Sooryavanshi smashed 103 off just 37 balls, reaching his century in a mere 36 deliveries. His knock, packed with towering sixes and crisp boundaries, marked his second IPL hundred and further cemented his status as one of the most exciting young talents in the tournament.

He also became the youngest player to cross 1,000 T20 runs, achieving the milestone at a remarkable pace. Speaking after the match, Sooryavanshi credited his instinctive approach, explaining that he focused on reading the conditions and backing his natural game rather than overthinking situations.

Despite his brilliance powering RR past the 220-run mark, Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a clinical chase, reaching the target with nine balls to spare. While the result didn’t go Rajasthan’s way, Sooryavanshi’s innings and his quick recovery from the injury scare remained the biggest talking points of the contest.
