Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20% of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Kolkata Knight Riders’ clash against Lucknow Super Giants on April 26. The incident occurred during a tense moment in the fifth over and quickly became one of the match’s talking points.

The penalty followed Raghuvanshi’s reaction to a controversial obstructing-the-field dismissal. On-field umpires referred the appeal to third umpire Rohan Pandit after a throw from mid-on struck the batter as he dived back into the crease.
Upon review, Pandit ruled that Angkrish Raghuvanshi had significantly changed his line while attempting to return, thereby upholding the decision. The young batter was visibly unhappy with the verdict and engaged in a prolonged discussion with the umpires. He argued that he needed space to turn and could not have altered his direction sharply after aborting the run.

However, his frustration escalated as he walked back to the pavilion, where he struck the boundary cushion with his bat and threw his helmet in anger. KKR head coach Abhishek Nayar was also seen in an animated conversation with the fourth umpire during the episode.

The IPL later confirmed that Raghuvanshi was penalised under Article 2.2, which deals with the misuse of cricket equipment or ground fixtures. Match referee Javagal Srinath imposed the sanction, which the player accepted without contest.
Despite the controversy, the match itself turned into a thriller. KKR posted 155 in their innings, thanks largely to a sensational unbeaten 83 from Rinku Singh. LSG’s chase saw regular wickets fall, but late efforts from Ayush Badoni and Himmat Singh pushed the game into a Super Over.

KKR then sealed the contest in dominant fashion. Sunil Narine delivered a match-winning Super Over, dismissing Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram while conceding just one run. KKR chased down the target on the first ball, completing a dramatic win.
