A dramatic IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Arun Jaitley Stadium was briefly halted after a sudden dust storm swept across the venue, adding another twist to an already chaotic evening. Play was stopped around 20:23 IST during the ninth over of Delhi’s innings as strong winds and poor visibility made conditions unsafe for players and officials.

The interruption, caused by a Western Disturbance affecting the Delhi-NCR region, provided a temporary break for Delhi, who were already in deep trouble at 43/7. However, while the weather cleared soon after, the damage inflicted by RCB’s pace attack had already put the hosts on the back foot.

Earlier in the innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood produced a devastating new-ball spell to dismantle DC’s top order. Bhuvneshwar set the tone by clean bowling debutant Sahil Parakh for a duck with a trademark inswinger, eventually finishing his opening burst with exceptional figures.

Hazlewood complemented him perfectly, removing KL Rahul with a sharp bouncer that resulted in a top edge, before dismissing Sameer Rizvi for a duck with a well-directed delivery outside off stump. The early breakthroughs triggered a dramatic collapse, with Delhi losing wickets in clusters.

At one stage, DC were reduced to a staggering 13/6 inside the powerplay—one of the worst starts in IPL history. The combination of disciplined seam bowling and challenging pitch conditions, which offered movement and uneven bounce, made survival extremely difficult for the batters.

While the dust storm created a surreal pause in play, it could not mask Delhi Capitals’ struggles with the bat. RCB, on the other hand, maintained complete control, turning the match into a one-sided contest even before the weather intervened.
