Virat Kohli may be one of the most confident figures on the cricket field, but even he admitted to feeling slightly out of place while addressing students at a recent school event in Delhi. Taking time out from his demanding IPL 2026 schedule, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star interacted with youngsters shortly after his team’s win over the Delhi Capitals.

Kohli began on a candid note, acknowledging that public speaking in a school environment was new territory for him. “I am not used to speaking in schools, so this is going to be a bit awkward for me because I moved away from the school setup long ago for cricket,” he said.
Despite the initial hesitation, Virat Kohli quickly connected with the audience by reflecting on his own journey. He emphasised how school plays a crucial role in shaping an individual’s character and mindset. Drawing from personal experience, he explained how his priorities shifted early in life when he decided to pursue cricket seriously.

The former India captain used the platform to deliver a strong message about honesty and self-awareness. He urged students to be clear about their ambitions and to pursue them with full commitment, stressing that true success comes from being honest with oneself.
“I chose sport very early on in my life, but that came from a very honest place,” he said. “I had to be honest with myself, my family and my teachers to convey that this is the path I want to take.”

Kohli concluded by encouraging the students to stay true to their dreams. “Be honest with what you want to do and follow that dream with absolute commitment. Only you will know whether you are being 100% honest or not.”
Even off the field, Kohli continues to inspire—this time not with runs, but with life lessons that resonate far beyond cricket.
