Bhuvneshwar Kumar has made it clear that, at this stage of his career, team success matters far more than individual milestones. The experienced Indian pacer has been a standout performer for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026, delivering consistent spells that have propelled him to the top of the wicket charts. His impact goes beyond numbers—he has brought control, experience, and calmness to RCB’s bowling unit.

That reliability was evident again during RCB’s clash against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 30. Despite the four-wicket loss, Bhuvneshwar produced a disciplined spell, finishing with figures of 3/28 in a low-scoring contest. At a time when RCB needed someone to step up, he once again delivered, keeping the pressure on the opposition throughout his spell.
Speaking after the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar addressed his current position as the Purple Cap holder but downplayed its importance in his overall journey. “It’s good that I got the Purple Cap,” he said. “Bu I think I have come out of that phase where I want to achieve something individually. Of course, I still want to achieve things, but now it’s more about the team. I’m not young anymore. When you’re younger, you naturally aim for those awards, and they come when you perform well.”

The 36-year-old’s performances back up his words. With 17 wickets in nine innings at an impressive average of 15.53, he has overtaken Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Eshan Malinga in the race for the Purple Cap. His ability to swing the ball early and control the death overs has been crucial for RCB this season.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also highlighted how his mindset has evolved over the years, focusing more on collective success. “When you work towards the team’s success and also receive individual rewards, it feels good,” he added. “But honestly, I’m just trying to give my best. I’m gaining confidence from the management, and that’s what matters most.”
