Former India spinner Piyush Chawla has added that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has managed to maintain consistency in the IPL despite being away from international cricket for a few years. Chawla also credited his work ethic for his impressive returns.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered figures of 3-5 from three overs as RCB beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by nine wickets in match number 39 of IPL 2026 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday, April 27 as well. He also dismissed Sahil Parakh (0), Tristan Stubbs (5) and Axar Patel (0) as DC collapsed shockingly as well.

During a discussion on ESPNcricinfo Timeout, Chawla said: “He makes sure whatever games he is playing, he plays with full intensity. I have seen players who come to domestic cricket, do their formality and leave. He is not like that. I have heard a lot of people say about workload management. I am not a big believer in quality practice. I believe in quantity. That’s what Bhuvi also does.”

Sharing his experience of playing with the veteran pace bowler, Chawla termed him a thinking cricketer.
“He is a thinking cricketer. When I talk to Bhuvi, I just leave everything up to him. I tell him, you tell me what you feel like. If plan A doesn’t work, then we will shift to plan B. When the other fast bowlers are there, I have to work with them. That comes when you have that cricketing brain and you are thinking about the game,” Piyush Chawla concluded.
